Mezcal Guxadi · Miahuatlán, Oaxaca
Artisanal mezcal. You say mezcal… and we say: recibe.
Artisanal mezcal from small batches, born in the Sierra Sur of Oaxaca and made to accompany the moments that truly matter.
Guxadi is a young brand founded in 2021, backed by more than a century of family mezcal tradition. We believe mezcal is not only drunk – it is thanked, shared and remembered.
You say mezcal… and we say: recibe.
Our story

Guxadi was born like many good mezcal stories: around a table, with family. In recent years, between farewells at a distance and small gatherings, mezcal became the common thread of toasts, conversations and farewell rituals. From there came the desire to share, beyond Oaxaca, the way we live mezcal.
In 2021 that desire became a project. Guxadi was created as a small Oaxacan company that works hand in hand with a partner family and their maestro mezcalero in Miahuatlán, in the Sierra Sur – one of the regions with the strongest mezcal tradition in Oaxaca. The company is young, but it stands on a family legacy that adds up to more than one hundred years of knowledge and practice around maguey and mezcal.
The name Guxadi comes from a word of Zapotec origin that refers to the grasshopper – a symbol of simple life, the countryside and Oaxacan joy. Just as the grasshopper jumps from table to table, Guxadi seeks to accompany celebrations, meals and gatherings, bringing a piece of Oaxaca to every glass.
In Oaxacan tradition, saying “¡Recibe!” is an invitation to drink mezcal with the blessing of the house: to acknowledge the land, those who are no longer here and those who sit at the table today. It is our way of understanding hospitality. That is why our motto is simple: you say mezcal… and we say: recibe.
What we believe
Oaxacan heritage
Mezcal produced in Miahuatlán, in the Sierra Sur of Oaxaca, following practices passed down through generations of mezcal families.
Small batches
Limited, numbered production, created for those who look for mezcales with character, clear origin and batch traceability.
Craft quality
Manual work at every stage – from maguey to bottle – with a focus on consistency, honesty and respect for the raw material.
Culture and ritual
Mezcal as living memory: it accompanies the table, the toast, the farewell and the reunion. Every Guxadi bottle tells a story.
Hospitality
Each bottle is an invitation to sit down, pour a glass and say “recibe”. We believe in sharing mezcal with respect and gratitude.

Our Artisanal Process
At Guxadi, every batch is made in the traditional way in Miahuatlán, Oaxaca. We take care of each stage, from the maguey in the field to the numbered bottle on your table.
- 1. Maguey and fields
- We select espadín and wild maguey that have matured for years in the Sierra Sur of Oaxaca.
- 2. Harvest and cooking
- The maguey is harvested by hand and slowly cooked in a conical stone pit, with wood and earth, to concentrate sugars and aromas.
- 3. Milling
- Once cooked, the maguey hearts are milled in the traditional way and prepared for fermentation.
- 4. Natural fermentation
- The mash ferments spontaneously with natural yeasts, respecting the climate and rhythm of Miahuatlán.
- 5. Distillation and bottling
- We distill in copper stills in small batches and bottle by hand, preserving the strength and unique character of each production.
